William Talbot

William TalbotDr. Talbot completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Stanford University, where he studied the genetic control of metamorphosis in Drosophila with Prof. David Hogness. As a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Charles Kimmel at the University of Oregon, Dr. Talbot studied genes that regulate early development in the zebrafish. In Eugene, Dr. Talbot also worked with Prof. John Postlethwait to develop genetic mapping resources for the zebrafish. Dr. Talbot became an Assistant Prof. at the Skirball Institute of the NYU School of Medicine in 1996. In 1999, Dr. Talbot joined Stanford University, where he is now a Professor and Chair of Developmental Biology. Dr. Talbot has received awards from the Pew Scholars Program and the Rita Allen Foundation. His group uses genetic, cellular, and biochemical approaches to investigate glial development and function in the zebrafish.
