Graduated in Medicine at the University of Milan in 1985, Residency in Neurology in 1987-91. Between 1991-92 at the Columbia University, NY, USA, investigating the role of GM1 antibodies in the pathogenesis of neuritis in human and animal models. Between 1993-2000, Staff scientist at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in the Neuropathology Unit. Since 2001, head of Experimental Neuropathology Unit and responsible for the Nerve biopsy service for neuropathies at the San Raffaele Hospital. Since 1998 non-tenured professor at the University San Raffaele Vita-Salute.
Research Interest:
Regeneration, develoment, maintenance and degeneration of the myelin sheath in the peripheral nervous system; pathology in animal models for genetically–mediated demyelination and axonopathy of the nervous system; immune-related neuropathy.
