Matthew Rasband earned a bachelors degree in Physics from Brigham Young University, and a doctorate in Biophysics from the University of Rochester. He is currently a Professor and the Vivian L. Smith Endowed Chair in Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms that underlie the assembly, maintenance, and function of excitable domains in neurons in both health and disease. He enjoys spending time with his family, running, swimming, cycling, and riding motorcycles.
